The Confluence leg pods used on the Tripod desk were pioneered for this piece. The Confluence leg-pod concept was developed while Evan was teaching as a visiting artist at the ANU School of Art under Dr. Rodney Haywood. It was originally an exercise to demonstrate to students that table-tops could be structural as well as just a working surface. By following his own logic, he realized that there was a whole family of furniture forms that could be built around the leg-pod concept.
The Confluence leg pod predates the Oxbow and the Seren Leg pods and was a “breakthrough” design for Evan. The commissioning client was a legume specialist who wanted a “bean” shape to the top. The same leg pod can be used on a wide variety of top shapes.
