The Confluence leg pod system was first developed for the Tripod desk while Evan was teaching as a visiting artist at the ANU School of Art under Dr. Rodney Haywood. The first Confluence table (pictured) was made in river red gum for a 2007 NSW Woodworker’s Association Exhibition. At that time, coarse, chunky, natural edge red gum tables were in vogue, and Evan wanted to show that river red gum could also be used in a more refined way.
The Confluence leg pod predates the Oxbow and the Seren Leg pods and was a “breakthrough” design for Evan. This leg pod system is suitable for table tops that are round, square, rectangular or boat shaped. The Confluence leg pod system uses the table top as a structural element and is usually associated with a 42mm thick top. The Confluence can be dressed up or dressed down, depending on the foot detailing.
