Our Kiandra cheval mirror was originally designed for a local couple who also commissioned the Walliga bedside table and the Horseshoe seating solution. Cheval mirrors have a timeless appeal and the name cheval comes from the French for horse. Traditional cheval mirrors had four long legs, “like a horse”.
When I knew I had to design a cheval mirror, why not reference our brumbies through the name Kiandra? Kiandra is an old goldmining town (and area) in the Australian Alps, right in the heart of what is now Kosciuszko National Park. The area was hit hard by the 2019/20 bushfires and the iconic old courthouse was badly damaged. It’s an area that I love to flyfish, and I always see the wild brumbies traversing the plains.
We have made Kiandra cheval mirrors in red gum, wenge, myrtle and blackwood. The design can be commissioned in a range of timbers. It’s the perfect gift for someone special in your life.
