Mandy and John have a significant collection of our work commissioned over a number of years. They commissioned the original Fallingwater chairs back in 2006. Mandy wanted a low cabinet in river red gum to display her collection of ceramic pieces.
River red gum is not normally associated with fine work, but at Dunstone Design we have found ways to tame this “difficult” timber. When handled well, red gum can look and feel like polished stone. Not further decoration is required. Rock maple is a good choice for the background in a display cabinet as it does not over-whelm to items being displayed.
We used our signature Arch handles, this time in queen ebony (Xanthostemom melanoxylon- Myrtacea) and buttress-figured blackwood, on this piece.
