Library Stairs

An elderly couple with mobility issues wanted a set of “safe” library stairs so that they could access their extensive bookshelves.

The stairs were designed with concealed wheels that are weight sensitive. The couple were able to manoeuvre the stairs to where they were needed. As soon as they climbed on the stairs, their weight would settle the stairs on the ground. The hand rails provided very stable and safe support while climbing, but also made the unit easy to manoeuvre.
