The commissioning client was trying to finish her PHD from home while also managing two very busy toddlers. She wanted a desk that inspired her to “go to work” and that also “told the family that she was working now”. The desk is made from highly figured Tasmanian blackwood with wenge and blackwood Arch drawer pulls. The drawer internals are rock maple. The desk is accompanied by a Fallingwater chair also in figured blackwood.

The leg structure is a variation of the Seren/Jabiru structure. We had recently made the Jabiru and this was a good starting point. The slot at the front was to house her lap top.
