Are you a woodworking enthusiast looking for some specific design advice? Are you a professional woodworker who works alone and needs to bounce some ideas?
I’m regularly asked for small bits of advice; which glue should I use for a curved lamination, what bandsaw blade is best for resawing? I would hate to discourage these sorts of simple questions. It’s a small community and I’m always happy to answer a quick question with a brief answer (just email me evan@dunstonedesign.com.au). However, I realise that some of you would like to ask me “bigger” questions, but you are worried about “wasting my time” (which is very considerate of you!). And it’s never comfortable just cold-calling someone for advice…
The Private Mentoring Session is available in one-hour blocks and will take the form of a Zoom meeting. Think of this as an “ask me anything” session. Perhaps you want advice on a specific design? Perhaps you are considering new equipment and you don’t know which way to jump? Maybe you are working on a complex piece for a client and you want to bounce ideas? Perhaps you want advice on how to establish and develop your practice?
To get the most from your Mentoring Session, jot down all your key questions in advance. Email me any important drawings or notes, so that I can prepare. Once you purchase the Mentoring Session through the website, we will arrange a mutually suitable time for a Zoom meeting.
“Often I feel quite isolated in my decisions and wish there was more of a community around me. Thanks so much for your guidance, it helps me keep the finger on the pulse!” – Lloyd Anderson, NZ

“I’ve just completed my first mentoring session with Evan. This is such a tremendous opportunity to learn from such a renowned professional on a much targeted level. Mine was project specific, but it could be anything related to woodworking. I struggle with design and being able to judge the required weight of an object escapes me. With a little preparation Evan was able to correct the dimensions of the components I’d proposed, and advised on joinery, as well as provided tips on construction. All on Zoom – and in my workshop.
Such a wonderful resource, I will definitely be doing many more sessions. Evan is extremely generous in sharing his knowledge and expertise. This session has ensured my project will be a vast improvement on my original concept.
An absolute sincere thank you Evan.”
