We run a small number of Masterclasses in our workshop every year. Our three key courses are our Summer Hand Tools Masterclass, our Production Masterclass and our Design & Development Masterclass. A Private Mentoring Session is available at any time. Join our mailing list to keep up to date with our offerings.
Private Mentoring Session
I’m regularly asked for small bits of advice and I’d never discourage simple questions. Just email me firstname.lastname@example.org.
Some of you have more complex questions and you hold back because you don’t wish to impose. I’ve developed the Private Mentoring Session so you can “ask me anything” without feeling uncomfortable about it. More info here:

Carve a Mobius Form with Hape Kiddle
April 1, 2022 @ 8:30 am - April 3, 2022 @ 4:00 pm$935.00
Students will carve a Mobius form ( larger disk size ) with extensions for the brave. You will explore the design elements of proportion and the relationship of lines within the form. The course will focus on carving techniques, with additional separate sessions on sharpening tricky tools, the challenges of wood grain, and sanding techniques (too often mis-understood!).
A full set of tools will be available; however students are strongly urged to bring their own carving knife, a gouge chisel equivalent to a 7L- 18/20 Pfeil, and perhaps a small 5 chisel set equivalent to the ‘Powergrip’ carving set available from Japanese Tools Australia. It is important that you learn how to get the best performance out of your personal set of tools.
The class runs 8:30am to 4pm, Friday 1st April to Sunday 3rd April, 2022. We will be practicing social distancing and complying with NSW COVID Safe rules.
Morning tea and lunches are included in the course fees.
This class is limited to 8 students. Tickets are not transferable.
The full cost of the course is $935 incl. GST (includes materials). A deposit of $100 is required on booking. This fee is fully refundable in the event that the course is cancelled to due COVID restrictions. You will be invoiced for the balance prior to the course starting.
This course is suitable for woodworkers with some carving experience. Email email@example.com for more information.
What to wear.
You must wear enclosed stout footwear. It could be quite hot during the week, so dress accordingly.
What to bring;
In addition to your personal tools, please bring your own PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) of dusk mask, hearing protection and eye protection. We can supply you with all these, but you will be most comfortable in equipment that you are familiar with.
Please bring a note-book and/or sketch book.
