The Tamar dining chair is an award-winning design (Australian Furniture of the Year Awards, 2009) conceived of by Evan whilst teaching chair design at the (now defunct) Australian School of Fine Furniture, University of Tasmania, Launceston, in 2007. He considers it his best low-back dining chair and one of his favourite designs generally.
Reviewing the Tamar chair, Master Craftsman and educator Neil Erasmus wrote In Craft Arts International (NO.72) “Lastly, Evan Dunstone ‘s new Tamar Chair …is worthy of special mention. It is a modest, poised and quiet design… A beautiful design that pays its respects to the past while managing to be firmly planted in today’s world.”
The Tamar chair design is the “chassis” for the Tamar rocker, both versions of the Cataract chairs and the Tamar stool.
