The Lewis Drinks Cabinet is a fine carcass piece with many subtle details. The doors open on hand-cut wooden knuckle hinges and retract back into the cavity to reveal a second pair of drawers and glasses storage. The ebony handled glass-topped mixing tray pulls out from its recess below two pairs of drawers. The cabinet features a frame and panel back, making it a fully resolved piece. One of the criteria of the brief was that the cabinet could be used as a room divider and enjoyed from any angle. This commissioned piece shows the imagination of the clients as much as the designer.
This is an early piece made for a couple who were among Evan’s first major clients. They also own an early Confluence Dining Table with Clearwater chairs.
