The Beta Stool Kit was designed by popular demand. When you guys told us “we want a Dunstone Design Stool Kit” it turns out that is exactly what you wanted! The instructions and the drawings are freely available independently of the kit (see the link above), so you can see what is involved. Have a look at the instructions and make sure that you have what it takes to make a Beta Stool for your home.
After we introduced the Alpha Chair Kit back in 2015, we have been repeatedly asked “when are you going to do a bar stool?” We took the Beta Stool Kit prototype to the 2016 Sydney Timber and Working with Wood Show and we were blown away by the level of interest.
The Beta comes in FSC Victorian blackwood from Corsair Sustainable Timbers. The kit is “hand tool friendly” and comes with a comprehensive set of written instructions and drawings. The Beta comes with all the components precision pre-machined, all the required hardware, floor protectors and gluing-up cauls. All you need are tools, glue and a suitable finish.
Unlike the Alpha Chair Kit, the Beta has no pre-cut joinery; This is hardcore, old school “real” woodwork using hand tools! Now you can make a beautiful stool for your breakfast bar.
The Beta stool design comes off the back of our popular Waterfall and Wave stools. You can be confident that these stools are comfortable and strong.
1. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET MY BETA STOOL KIT?
We usually have stock on hand, so we will normally have your order in transport the next day. We will inform you immediately if there is any delay. You can download the free PDF of the instructions whenever you like.
2. WHAT IF I MAKE A MISTAKE AND RUIN A COMPONENT?
All the components can be purchased separately. If you ruin a component, simply email firstname.lastname@example.org to order a replacement.
3. WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I WANT TO MAKE A SET OF BETAs?
The Beta Stool Kit is a great way to make a set of quality stools for your family at an affordable price. The Beta requires a lot of accurate marking out. If you are making more than one Beta at a time, then a marking out error will impact all your stools. Sort out your processes, make all the “tweaks” and adjustments to the design that you want and get any further equipment that you might decide you need for making a set; then you can turn around and make a perfectly matching set of Betas with confidence.
4. ARE THE KITS COLOUR MATCHED?
We make sure that all the components in each kit are broadly colour matched, but there is no colour matching between kits. Because we use shorts (small sections and offcuts) and because blackwood naturally has a lot of colour variations, you will see some variation of timber colour between the kits. This is simply in the nature of blackwood.
5. IS THE BETAS COMFORTABLE?
Yes. Evan designs every chair and stool with a specific ergonomic consideration in mind. The Beta’s comfort is one of its biggest selling points.
6. IS THERE A DISCOUNT FOR BULK ORDERS?
We do everything in our power to keep the unit price of the kits down. We expect that most people will want to make a set of Betas, so our idea of “bulk” is more than 8 kits. If your idea of bulk is also more than 8 kits, please contact Evan via email@example.com. Your easiest path to saving some dollars is with creative shipping solutions.
7. CAN I ORDER THIS FROM OUTSIDE OF AUSTRALIA?
Yes. Our website can calculate international shipping.
