SUMMARY:Carve a Seed Pod Vessel with Hape Kiddle
DESCRIPTION:Students will carve a seed pod styled vessel complete with fluting running the full length of the carving. You will explore the design elements of proportion and the relationship of lines within the form. The course will focus on carving techniques\, with additional separate sessions on sharpening tricky tools\, the challenges of wood grain\, and sanding techniques (too often mis-understood!). \nA full set of tools will be available; however students are strongly urged to bring their own carving knife\, a gouge chisel equivalent to a 7L- 18/20 Pfeil\, and perhaps a small 5 chisel set equivalent to the ‘Powergrip’ carving set available from Japanese Tools Australia. It is important that you learn how to get the best performance out of your personal set of tools. \nThe class runs 8:30am to 4pm\, Wednesday 20th January to Friday 22nd January\, 2021. We will be practicing social distancing and complying with NSW COVID Safe rules. \nMorning tea and lunches are included in the course fees. \nThis class is limited to 8 students. Tickets are not transferable. \nThe full cost of the course is $803 incl. GST (includes materials). This fee is fully refundable in the event that the course is cancelled to due COVID restrictions. \nThis course is suitable for woodworkers with some carving experience. Email ev**@****************om.au for more information. \nWhat to wear. \nYou must wear enclosed stout footwear. It could be quite hot during the week\, so dress accordingly. \nWhat to bring; \nIn addition to your personal tools\, please bring your own PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) of dusk mask\, hearing protection and eye protection. We can supply you with all these\, but you will be most comfortable in equipment that you are familiar with. \nPlease bring a note-book and/or sketch book. \n\nSeed Pod Vessel by Hape Kiddle
